The Six Figures Challenge is a challenge created by entrepreneur, TraVal Shanklin, to document his journey of earning six figures from scratch through business ownership.
Yesterday, I along with my business partner and girlfriends met with a banker to open up a business checking account. It took about an hour, but I started thinking about a couple of things. I look forward to establishing a relationship with my banker. Bankers can connect you with individuals who may take your business to the next level. For example, my banker asked me about my business and I told him what I do.
He responded by saying he is in the process of launching his own company and may need my services. By telling people what you do, people may need or know someone who needs your services. At first, I was hesitant on telling people what I did. I thought people would copy me which creates more competition.
However, by talking with different people, I realize that people do business with people. So, if I am authentic, reliable, and realistic with my clients, they have a big chance of being loyal clients. With loyal clients, they are more likely to refer your services. I had to think about how I am the representation of my business.
People are not only doing business with my company, but also doing business with me. If they don’t trust me, why would they trust my company?
It’s great to have an amazing product, but if you have a good product it’s not the end of the world. Build relationships and network to grow your business. You can thank me later.
Remember, you are the face of your business, so act like it.
