The Importance of Work/Life Balance
As a college student taking 18 hours with a girlfriend and running 2 businesses it feels like I have no time for all of them. Yet, I wouldn’t trade this moment with anyone. Yes, I spend a disproportionately amount of time on my businesses, but my girlfriend is a close second. College gets the short end of the stick and I’m glad I’m almost finished.
My life isn’t evenly balanced, but I make time for the important areas. For example, I make sure I spend time with my girlfriend every day no matter what. Even when we are apart, I make sure to at least have a phone conversation with her. Thankfully, she understands that I can’t spend all my time with her or our relationship would have too many problems.
I salute those entrepreneurs who work all the time, I know it’s not for me. I believe that if I don’t have the time to eat properly, exercise, and spend time with loved ones, I’m not doing something right. I’m not saying I have to spend every minute doing those things, but my energy relies on them. My businesses are one of the most important areas of my life, but not the only one.
The other areas of my life provide the energy and breaks I need to be more effective in business. Without those key areas, I would not be as effective in business as I am right now. I’m grateful for success in every area of my life, including areas outside of my businesses.
