No one can tell you what success means to you. You have to define it yourself and realize that Success Is All About You.
In order to achieve the success you desire, you have to first define it. This begins with knowing yourself.
Ask the right questions
Many people may have ideas of what success means to them but they never dig deeper. They say things like I want to be rich or I want to have a lot of money.
The problem is that it’s not specific enough. Also, just because you may want more money it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be more successful.
I want you to take some time and answer the following questions to the best of your ability:
- What are your passions?
- What type of work would you do even if you weren’t getting paid?
- Do you have any gifts and talents?
- What specialized knowledge or education do you have?
- What type of valuable work can you do for others and be paid?
Once you answer these questions you should be able to then proceed to the next step.
Defining success
Everyone’s definition of success is going to be different. Why? Because we are all unique in our own way.
My definition of success is being able to not worry about money, having control over how I spend my time, and choosing who I spend time with on a daily basis.
Your definition of success may be different and that’s ok. Take a few minutes and truly think of what would success feel like. What type of life do you need to be living to achieve your definition of success?
I believe many people include money in their definition of success. The truth is that most people are going to spend most of their life working, so why not do something you love?
At the same time, you want to be able to be in a position of power. You want to be able to control how much money you make. The only way I know of that can allow you to combine a passion and unlimited income is through your own business.
With your own business, you can truly operate in your own skin. You control your work environment and choose the people you want to work with.
At the end of the day, you have to define what success means to you. Then, do everything in your power to fit your definition. No one else can do it for you.
