One of the best ways to scale your business is to sell products. Courses can be a fantastic and scalable product that increases your income significantly. In this article, we show you how to Scale Your Business To Six Figures With Courses.
Why Courses?
A course is just a way to teach someone a specific thing. For example, if I’m in the digital marketing niche, I can put together a course teaching fitness businesses how to get more customers with Facebook. This would be a good example of choosing a niche.
What makes a course great is that if it is delivered and structured correctly, it can scale easily. This means the same amount of work to sell 1 course per day is equal to 100 per day. The amount of work you put in is unlinked to how many courses you sell.
Courses can also be extremely profitable. Since most courses are delivered over the internet, the only money you are spending is in the software you use to host the course. In most businesses, where there is a a cost of goods sold, for courses the cost can be almost non-existent where you have profit margins of upwards of 80%.
Everyone has a course in them. We all know something that someone else doesn’t know, but want to learn. Figure out what that is, target a specific niche, and create a course.
How To Create A Course
The biggest keys to creating your course is figuring out how you are going to structure your content and the delivery of your course. To begin, write out the steps you take and create an outline of your course. It doesn’t have to be extremely long [but it can be if you want it to be].
Choose how you want to create your course. Do you want it to be Powerpoint slides with your face in the corner or just powerpoint slides? Look at how other experts in your niche created their course.
One way you can structure your course is to have six modules. In each module, have 5 to 6 videos. Each video can be anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes long. At the end, you’ll have at least 3 hours of content for your course.
For delivery, there are multiple options you can go with. You can host your course on WordPress, have a membership backend, and have your videos unlisted with YouTube. This way is probably the cheapest way, however, it’s going to take a little bit of work to get everything connected and setup.
Another way is to use platforms such as Gumroad, Kajabi, Teachable, and Thinkific. They are easier to setup but will of course cost more. Don’t get too bogged down with the different options out there. Choose one and put the energy into creating your course.
Scaling To Six Figures
When it comes to making six figures, understand that it’s a number game. Once you understand the numbers, then you can reverse engineer your goal of making six figures.
For example, if your course sells for $200, this means you need to sell at least 500 courses which is around 42 per month over the course of a year. If you break it down even further, that’s about 10 per week or 2 per day for 5 days.
Since we know how many courses we need to sell, now we need to create a process where we can sell the course automatically. My personal favorite, is Facebook Ads. I believe that it is a great platform to generate sales on autopilot and you can scale your advertising budget based off the amount of money you have to invest in advertising.
Let’s say that you are able to get a 2x ROAS [Return On Ad Spend], this means that for every $1 you spend on ads, you bring in $2. And since courses have a high profit margin, most of that return is going to be profit.
This means if you spend $200 per day on ads, you are bringing in $400 in revenue. In profit, you’ll be making $200 per day and as I said earlier that’s over $100,000 per year.
Now, I know you may be thinking well I don’t have $200 per day to spend on advertising. Many people don’t, but your goal should be to start small and grow over time. Start off with a $5 per day or $10 budget and once you find what works for you, then you scale up.
You won’t make six figures overnight, but it’s completely possible to make it within 1 to 3 years. Start today and create the processes that will allow you to scale your business.
